Thanksgiving and BLACK Friday

I surprisingly didn't take one picture on Thanksgiving day. It was fun, but a little challenging....Teagan is getting closer to cutting teeth - at least that is the reason I'm giving b/c she has been more cranky and whiny.....this week has been a rough week. She has been up several times during the night - every night. I thought we were pass her screaming/crying in the car, but we found out otherwise on the way home. We survived it though and that's the important thing. We were supposed to drive to OKC yesterday and visit with Sarah, but I cancelled b/c my nerves couldn't handle it.....so instead of enduring screamin' Teagan for 2 + hours I chose to endure the craziness of black Friday. I believe it was a way to punish myself and escape the guilt I felt for not seeing Sarah while she was in Oklahoma.

BLACK FRIDAY DETAILS:
The alarm went off at 3:30 and I thought to myself "seriously? I'm really going to do this?" and then hit snooze. I had talked my mom into going with me, so I finally got up at 4 and hopped into the shower.....okay it wasn't a hop, but I got there. After I was almost ready (nothing spectacular - just a little makeup) I went and woke up mom. We were pulling out of the driveway at 4:40. Our first destination was Wal-Mart (yes, we had more than one). Wal-Mart in Owasso is with a strip mall that has an Office Depot, Bath & Body, Kohls, Panera Bread and a few other stores. The only parking spot in front of the stores we could find was in front of Kohls, which is on the other end of the strip mall from Wal-Mart. We decided it would be closer to park in front of Lowes. On our way we noticed some cars parked beside Wal-Mart's garden area, so we ventured that way and found a "spot". It wasn't technically a parking spot, but it was beside one vehicle and in behind another one. We made our way into the craziness. I had only participated in the black Friday craziness one other time and it wasn't at Wal-Mart.....with that said I'm not sure why I was shocked, but I was shocked. It was a good thing we didn't have a cart b/c we wouldn't have been able to get through the crowds to find our items. It took us about 30 minutes to find our big sale items and then we head for the checkout lines. After picking up 3 castoff items (people had decided they didn't want them and just left them on the last minute stuff by the checkout) and 1 hour later we were leaving Wal-Mart. Where we had parked we were able to drive behind Wal-Mart and the strip mall to get to Kohls. We easily found a parking spot (just pulled into the first one we found) and headed inside the store. We made our way to the back of the store to look for the items on my list when we noticed two different lines. We were perplexed as to what item they were waiting in line to get.....as we were making our way through everyone we realized they were waiting in line to check out - at the front of the store. I quickly decided that the items at Kohls were not THAT important and we left. We strolled into Panera bread for much needed caffeine and food. We then headed across 96th street to the Smith Farm Market. Target was our first stop. It was now 6:45 and the store had been open for 45 minutes. There was only one thing I was wanting - the dual screen portable DVD player (thinking this could help with our screaming Teagan issue - maybe), but they, of course, were already sold out of them. We then headed down to Old Navy, but made a pit stop at Kirklands to see if there was anything that was too good of a deal that we couldn't live without.....we came out without any purchases. Old Navy was a different story......we easily filled up one of their buggies. Mom actually got in line for me while I stilled shopped around for stuff. Timbo effectively got a new wardrobe and then the kids and myself got a few items. After Old Navy our last stop was Belks. I picked up some clothes for work, a purse, wallet, boots and some jewelry.....Merry Christmas to me! Wait I totally forgot ....... we decided to swing by Atwoods and see what type of toys they had on sale. We ended up with a big purchase that Tim ended up taking back later in the day (we found something else online that we felt was better suited for C). We were back home at 10:15. All in all I didn't think it was too bad - I thought we started out with the needed mindset......not in a hurry and not go psycho on anyone. I think I may endure the craziness again next year. :-)
